Great player, but I think you may have done him a disservice. The reason I think he remains effective at 36 years of age is in some way due to the fact that he was never a player blessed with pace, and ergo had to develop a playing style and movement and awareness that would enable him to become a top player in spite of this. Very few have managed that over the years, yet he was one. In fact I don’t ever recall seeing him beat his man on the wing, he never needed to when he could cross around players.

Not sure I’d play him through the middle in a 4 man midfield, but could be useful as a part of the 5 that Man Utd have used from time to time recently. In a way though, that would be a mistake too, his crossing is such a weapon if you’ve any forward willing to get across the front of their marker. Seems more likely he’ll sign for PSG though at the moment, which is a shame for us Brits. However, even that would fly in the face of my conspiracy theory regarding corporate sway in footballing decisions. I rather hope that he’ll sign for a fourth tri-striped team in order to perpetuate my nonsense.

Thank you, Yaan M’Villa would be a quality signing for Chelsea and may provide the quality in the holding role that Chelsea have lacked since Makelele was at the club, but then again Oriol Romeu is showing some promise right now, but it depends to be seen if he goes back to Barcelona in the next two seasons.

David Luiz is as quick or even quicker than Gallas and Carvalho, and two seasons ago the partnership of Terry and Alex were able to play a big part in Chelsea winning the double, even though Alex isn’t as quick as Gallas or Carvalho. Terry is still a top rank defender and I agree with you that he was never really fast, but he was still quite quick around the pitch, which is why his partnership with Alex worked so well two seasons ago. But it is not his pace that I am worried about, it is the individual mistakes that he is making, such as mistakes on the ball that the Terry of two years ago would have never made. The Terry of two years ago would have won the 50-50 with Kuyt and won the slide tackle against Henderson with no problem but right now he does look a bit shaky, whether that is a lack of support, the high line, or his body beginning to fail him (don’t forget the injury problems he has had and him playing through them which makes him one of Chelsea’s greatest ever players) is remained to be seen. His amazing presence and leadership characteristics and what he has done for the club means that he must stay at Chelsea for the rest of his career but if he isn’t playing well and/or Chelsea can get someone in who is better, then he shouldn’t be starting all the time, he should be in the first eleven only if he isn’t playing well but right now in my opinion he isn’t which is a shame because he is a great player for Chelsea.

I’m sorry if you think that but I am not singling out players because of their race just their performances and worth to the team now and for the future of Chelsea. Drogba’s form has actually been worse than Torres’ since Torres arrived and serious questions must be asked about Torres’ place in the squad as well. I love Drogba as a player and would love to see him in the first team but the thing that annoys me about his performances is that he doesn’t look up for it when he plays, which is a shame as he is one of the best strikers in the world when he is up for it. On the subject of Mikel in my opinion he hasn’t been able to live up to that hype he had when he first burst on to the scene and doesn’t look like he will anytime soon but this has nothing to do with the colour of his skin just his performances over the last couple of years, but that is just my opinion and everyone is entitled to their own. Also I don’t think Lampard should be one of the first names on the team sheet for the midfield. And by the way my favourite Chelsea players include Ashley Cole, Ramires and Daniel Sturridge and I hope that Nathaniel Chalobah will be a future captain for Chelsea, really racist aren’t I?

Terry is playing no worse than ever. You must be blind. The difference is that he does not have the assistance and speed and quality of his former partners Gallas and Carvalho to complement him. Terry was never fast and to say he’s slowed is a nonsense – he’s as slow as ever he was. But so was Bobby Moore slow (even slower than Terry) and he made up for it with classy anticipation and cunning. Terry is still a top rank defender and deserves more respect than the buffoon writer of this article gives him. If Terry’s team mates keep leaving him exposed, he’s sure to look stretched. But the writer thinks that instead of getting rid of the players who cause the problems, we should get rid of the only defender who is truly worth his place. What a dunce.

I’ve thought about Johnson at right midfield in the past too – I think it could be a decent option, but then three Liverpool managers in a row have not tried it, so there must be a reason he’s not suited to it.
